Once the root cause is identified, we are responsible for correcting the offending code and integrating the fix back into the product source. This technically very challenging role can involve working under pressure, especially when we are called in to extremely hot issues that have visibility at the highest executive levels. Many of our staff are highly experienced engineers and are considered experts in their areas of specialization. Our senior engineers are the best mentors any recent graduates or junior engineers can get in the industry. Our portfolio includes most of Oracle's software technologies, including the Solaris OS and kernel, drivers, file systems, networking, appliance, service processors/system controller firmware, OS security (including but not limited to Cryptography, Authentication, Network Security, Roles, Auditing,Trusted Extensions etc.), and more. The Engineered Systems (like SPARC Super Cluster, M - Series Servers, Storage Appliances etc.) are exciting new products from Oracle that provides the highest levels of database performance available with it's grid in a box design. You will be joining the team that is tasked with ensuring the success of Oracle's Engineered Systems running the Solaris operating system. You will be immersed in one or more of these technologies at the deepest level, combining special knowledge in some with an in-depth knowledge of many. You will be or become an expert in C, UNIX, Java, operating system internals, and more. You will join an Extra Care team responsible for supporting our top customer's on Oracle's most critical products. Tasks will include troubleshooting, debugging and fixing the Solaris operating system components. Workload will consist primarily of customer reported software defects but will also include doing whatever it takes to ensure successful deployment of these products running Solaris. You must be able to work under pressure, be very motivated and a fast learner. You must also be willing to travel both domestically and internationally to assist with on-site deployment, debugging and fixing. The candidate must possess the following: - - Advanced troubleshooting and debugging - Solaris debugging tools such as dtrace, mdb, and truss - Wide background in computer science technologies - Ability to travel on short notice - Strong leadership capabilities - Structured, methodological approach to problem solving - Customer management capabilities - Self confidence - Positive attitude in the face of adversity & ability to handle stress - Creativity & flexibility Experience or understanding of the following is a plus: - - Understanding of UNIX fundamentals and internals, device drivers and frameworks, Filesystems, VFS, and VM subsystems, system/service processor management software architecture, scripting and shell programming techniques - Sun/Oracle hardware or competitors equivalent - Using C/C++/Java to write software solutions - System level programming - Storage and networking protocols such as fibre channel, iSCSI, NFS, CIFS, Infiniband, and TCP/IP - Logical Volume Manager and Clustering technologies - Oracle RDBMS (including RAC, RDS & ASM)
Desired Profile	Detailed Description and Job Requirements Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc. As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging or designing of software applications or operating systems. Provide technical leadership to other software developers. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture to meet changing needs. Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
